Police are investigating the cause of an accident Saturday morning during which a motorcycle driver lost control and suffered serious injuries after falling to the side of the road.
The accident, according to Brick Police Ptl. Keith Donnelly of the department’s traffic safety unit, the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 70 and Cedar Bridge Avenue at 11:01 a.m. Michael V. LaRocca, 30, of Toms River, was riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle east on Route 70. The motorcycle, after crossing the intersection of Cedar Bridge Avenue began to “wobble,” said Donnelly.
The driver, according to police, lost control of the motorcycle, crashed into the guardrail and fell to the ground causing significant internal and external injuries. The motorcycle then continued to slide in the eastbound lane and ultimately stopped after crossing into the westbound lanes.

LaRocca was transported to Jersey Shore University trauma center by Brick Police EMS and MONOC Paramedics. He was in critical condition Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by Ptl. G. Lampiasi and Donnelly. Anybody who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to call the Traffic Safety Office at 732-262-1141
