Seaside Park Police Blotter: Dancing on the Dunes, ‘Busy’ on the Beach, Seagull Swarm

Seaside Park police have issued their weekly blotter. The blotter features a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the last week. The total number of calls last week was 213.

Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Stockton Avenue beach, officers observed a male consuming an open container of alcohol. Officers made contact with the male and advised him of the ordinance and prompted him to dispose of his alcoholic beverage. He was also issued a borough summons for the violation.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer First Company responded to the area of K Street and K Court for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Officers arrived and made sure any residents were out in fresh air. The fire department responded and checked the residence with their equipment and found the residence to be safe and the alarm was set off due to a faulty detector.

Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Stockton Avenue beach, police observed a male smoking on the beach in violation of local ordinances. The subject was advised of the ordinance and issued a borough summons for the violation.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to assist a patient who was experiencing chest pain. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene. They were transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.

Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of the Stockton Avenue beach, police observed a male dancing on the sand dunes in violation of local ordinance. Officers made contact with the male and advised him of the ordinance. The male was issued a borough summons for the violation.

Lewdness – Police were dispatched to the Stockton Avenue beach for a report of lewdness. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who advised there was a male and female engaging in intercourse on the beach. Officers made contact with the offenders and advised them of the ordinance and both subjects were issued a summons for the violation.

Community Policing – Police were dispatched to assist a driver who could not locate their vehicle and forgot where they had parked. Patrols were advised of the vehicle description and were able to locate the owner’s vehicle at Decatur and the Boulevard. The owner was given and escort to their vehicle.

Alarm – Police responded to the area of 2nd Avenue and Central for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the exterior of the business and did not observe any signs of forced entry. All doors and windows were found to be secure, and it was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

Disturbance – Police were dispatched to the area of I Street and Ocean for a verbal dispute between two females. Officers arrived and separated those involved and investigated the situation. It was determined that it was just a verbal argument between family members. Officers were able to mediate the situation, and the females went their separate ways for the remainder of the night.

Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of the Stockton Avenue beach, officers were flagged down by a female who advised a group was feeding the seagulls causing them to swarm around others and causing them to defecate on other beach goers. Four subjects were observed feeding the seagulls creating the disturbance. They were advised of the ordinance, and each were issued a borough summons for the violation.

Suspicious Person – Police were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue and Central for a male wandering around attempting to get into a church as well as residences. Officers arrived and located the male described by the caller. The male was cooperative but was clearly disoriented and under the influence of narcotics. No damage was done to any of the places he attempted to get into. The male was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad.

Missing Person – Police were flagged down in the area of Stockton Avenue and the boardwalk by a parent who stated they could not locate their juvenile daughter. Officers disseminated a description of her to all patrols working and she was later located in Seaside Heights, and they were safely reunited.

Ordinance Violation – While on patrol in the area of Stockton Avenue beach, officers observed a male and female with an unleashed dog running loose on the beach. The subjects were advised of the ordinance, and both were issued a borough summons for the violation.

Unconscious – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to the area of Lafayette Avenue beach for an unconscious female. Officers arrived and located the female and were able to make contact with her. The female was highly intoxicated and stated she had quite a bit to drink. The subject was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.
