Seaside Park Police Blotter: Bike Plucked From Car, Swimmers Saved, Lost Partier

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, featuring a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the past week. In all, the department handled 213 calls for service during the time period.

Verbal Dispute – Police were dispatched to the area of Decatur and Ocean Avenue for a verbal argument between a male and female. Officers arrived and located he subjects involved and spoke to both parties separately to investigate the situation. Police were able to mediate the situation. No further police action required.

Theft – Police responded to the area of L Street and Ocean Avenue for a report of a bicycle theft. The caller stated her bicycle was stolen from her bike rack on her vehicle. She stated the bicycles were locked to the rack and the locks were missing along with one bike. Video footage was recovered showing a male cross the street and later riding away heading north with a bicycle. The subject’s face was mostly covered so a good description was not obtained from the video. Information was gathered to generate a report. This matter is still under investigation.

Alarm – Police responded to the area of K Street and Central for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and did observe the audible alarm sounding. The perimeter was checked, and all doors and windows were found to be secure, and no signs of forced entry were observed. The homeowner was advised of our findings.

Swimmers in Distress – Police responded to the area of the D Street beach for a report of three male swimmers in distress. Upon police arrival all three males were out of the water safely. One male was helped out of the water by a Good Samaritan. They were checked out by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and one male was transported by EMS to Community Medical Center for further evaluation.

Community Policing – Police were called to the area of L Street and Ocean for a male who appeared disoriented. Officers arrived and spoke to the male who was intoxicated and lost. Police were able to determine where he was staying, and he was given a safe ride back to his hotel.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to the area of Stockton and Ocean Avenue for a fall victim who had sustained a laceration to the back of their head from the incident. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene. They were later transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Fire Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of H Street and Central Avenue for a report of a fire alarm activation. Officers arrived and did not observe any smoke or active fire. The resident stated it was set off in error. The fire department arrived and checked the interior with their heat sensing equipment to make sure everything was safe.

Wires Down – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to ocean block of North Avenue for a down electrical wire. Officers and the fire department arrived and made sure the area was safe and secure. The wire was deemed safe by the fire department and JCP&L responded to repair the wire.
