Seaside Park Police Blotter: Helping Hands, Beach Rules

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, which features a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the last week. The total number of calls handled by the department was 178.

Alarm – Police were dispatched to the area of J Street and Central for a report of a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the perimeter of the business. All doors and windows were found to be locked, and no signs of forced entry were observed. It was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to help a patient who was possibly having a seizure. Officers and EMS arrived and began to assess the patient at the scene. They were transported to Community Medical Center for further treatment.

Community Policing – Police were dispatched to the area of F Street and Central for a disabled motor vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who advised their vehicle was having mechanical problems. Officers helped push the vehicle into a parking spot so they could safely wait for a tow truck.

Borough Ordinance – While on patrol in the area of G Street beach Officers observed two males with glass containers on the beach in violation of the borough ordinance. Officers advised the subjects of the violation, and both males were issued a borough summons for the violation.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to the N Street beach for a patient that was rescued from the ocean by the lifeguards and was currently vomiting water. Police and EMS arrived and loaded the patient into the ambulance where they were transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Fire – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the area of M Street and Central for an oven fire. Officers arrived and observed active flames inside the over and suppressed it with a fire extinguisher. The fire department arrived and made sure the fire was completely extinguished.

Borough Ordinance – While on patrol in the area of Decatur Avenue beach Officers observed a male with an open container of alcohol on the beach. Police made contact with the subject, and he was issued a borough summons for the violation.

Disturbance – While on patrol in the area of Decatur and Ocean Officers saw a male and female arguing in the municipal parking lot. Officers separated and spoke to both parties. Police were able to mediate the situation and deescalate the couple. No further police action required.
