The continuing effort to keep Lavallette’s bayfront area looking fresh will continue with a new round of benches that are being delivered now. They will be dedicated next month, according to officials.
Councilwoman Joanne Filippone said the benches have been delivered and about half of the memorial plaques that will be attached to them have also come in. The cast-bronze plaques are pre-drilled for the borough’s new benches, and were ordered from Belson Outdoors earlier this summer at a cost of $14,250, funded by those who purchased memorial messages.
After dozens of new benches were delivered and placed along the borough’s bayfront last year, the project continued in 2025. This year, 77 new benches were purchased – the maximum that could be purchased from a dedicated supplier that manufactures benches that survive in Lavallette’s coastal environment – and all were sold to those seeking memorials.

The new benches and plaques will be assembled over the next several weeks and placed at various areas of the bayfront where they will supplant aging wooden benches. The borough has planned a dedication ceremony for Saturday, Oct. 25, with more details expected soon. Last year, over 300 people attended the dedication ceremony for those that were delivered.
