Seaside Park Police Blotter: Broken Window, Flower Pot Caper, Keeping the Peace

Seaside Park police have issued their weekly blotter. The blotter contains a sampling of calls to which the department responded recently. The total number of calls handled over the last week was 94. The blotter appears below:

Well Being Check – Police were dispatched to the area of O Street and the Boulevard to conduct a well being check. The caller stated they had been trying to reach their family member by telephone and could not get a hold of them for an extended period of time. Police arrived and checked the residence and were able to make contact with the caller’s relative. They were fine and were just having some problems with their phone. They were advised to call their relative when they could.

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to help a victim who was experiencing difficulty breathing. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene, and they were later transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Overdose – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to the Seaside Park Marina for a male who was semi conscious in his vehicle. EMS arrived and the subject became aggressive, and police had to step in to mediate the situation. The subject was assessed at the scene, would not tell EMS what he took, and was generally uncooperative. The male eventually calmed down but refused any further medical treatment.

Criminal Mischief – Police responded to the area of Porter and Central for a caller who reported hearing someone outside their residence then heard glass breaking. Officers arrived and checked the area, and no one was located outside the residence. On the east side of the residence a broken window was located. It was determined that a small rock was thrown at the window causing the break. But the screen was intact, and no signs of forced entry were observed just a random act of criminal mischief. The residence and one next door both had cameras facing toward where the incident took place, but no possible subjects were captured. A report was generated, and the resident called their landlord to make repairs.

Theft – Police took a theft report from the Beautification Committee stating that a blue flowerpot had been stolen from the beach entrance at F Street. The flowerpots placed at the other beach entrances were still all intact.  A report was generated, and patrols were advised to keep an eye out.

Alarm – Police were dispatched to the area of Farragut and Boardwalk for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the business. No signs of forced entry were observed. All doors and windows were found to be secure. It was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

Arrest – Police responded to a verbal dispute in the area of Decatur and Central Avenue. Officers arrived and spoke to the parties involved. Parties were separated and officers gathered the information needed to generate a report. After further investigation it was determined that the male involved had an active warrant for his arrest out of another jurisdiction. The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released with a new court date.

Keep the Peace – Police were dispatched to the ocean block of Stockton Avenue for a disturbance. Upon arrival there was a male and female arguing. The individuals were separated, and police spoke to both parties regarding the incident. The female was there to retrieve her belongings and an argument ensued. Police stood by while the female gathered her items and left without incident.
