Seaside Park Police Blotter: Package Returned, Bike Snatched From Garage, Scam Documented

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, featuring a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the past week. The total number of calls for service handled by the department was 104. The blotter appears below:

Fire Alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire alarm activation in the area of E Street and Central Avenue. Officers arrived and checked the residence. No smoke or active fire was observed. The fire department arrived and checked the residence with their heat sensing equipment and determined that the house was safe. It was determined that the alarm was set off by a faulty detector.

First Aid – Police and the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to a victim who was experiencing difficulty breathing. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene. They were transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Community Policing – Police were flagged down in the area of the ocean block of J Street. The resident stated a heavy package was delivered to their house and was meant for an address in the south end of town. The officer took the package and placed it on the porch of the proper residence.

Landlord Tenant Dispute – A walk-in at police headquarters reported a property loss after moving out of a property they were staying at. The complainant stated some items were missing and some were damaged after retrieving items from a previous residence. They just wanted to document this incident so they could proceed civilly for property loss. The information needed was gathered to generate a report.

Burglary – Police were dispatched to the area of Bayview and Island Avenue for a theft of an electric bicycle. The caller reported an electric bicycle was stolen from inside their open garage while they stepped away from their residence. Officers arrived and gathered the information needed to generate a report. The area was also canvassed for nearby cameras that could have captured the incident. The area was checked by no possible suspects were located. This matter is still under investigation.

Alarm – Police responded to the ocean block of G Street for a burglar alarm activation. Officers arrived and checked the exterior of the residence and did not observe any signs of forced entry. All doors and windows were found to be secure, and it was determined that the alarm was set off in error.

Well Being Check – Police were dispatched to the area of 7th and Central Avenue to conduct a well being check. The caller stated they had not been able to contact their relative for approximately one week and were concerned. Officers arrived and spoke to male and made sure he was okay. The male was fine and had lost his phone during the week. The caller was advised of our findings.

Fraud – Police responded to the area of N Street and the Boulevard for a fraud call. The caller stated that they were scammed online out of a large sum of money while using an app on their phone. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller and gathered all the information needed to generate a report. This matter is still under investigation.
