Wind Advisory Remains in Effect Friday, Flood Advisory Ends Before PM High Tide

The National Weather Service has continued its wind advisory for the Shore area through midnight, however the coastal flood advisory that has been in effect since yesterday will terminate at 4 p.m. Friday, the agency said, just before high tide occurs locally.

The east winds that plagued the region yesterday have given way to west winds of 20 to 30 m.p.h. with gusts up to 50 m.p.h., the advisory statement said.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,” the advisory stated. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

Meanwhile, a coastal flood advisory will end Friday at 4 p.m., though the possibility remains for up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. The coastal flood advisory is primarily confined to the back areas of Barnegat Bay. High tide occurs at 7:26 p.m. on Barnegat Bay in Seaside Park and 8:14 p.m. at the Mantoloking Bridge.

The weather is expected to improve for the weekend, though a chill will be in the air. Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 58. It will remain breezy, however, with a west wind 15 to 20 m.p.h.  Sunday will also be sunny, with a high near 58, with winds calming to just 5 m.p.h. from the northwest.
