After a decade-long run on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, the popular free summer series “Broadway Meets the Beach” is relocating this year to a larger waterfront venue in the nearby mainland community of Island Heights, organizers have announced.

All four performances this summer will take place at Wanamaker Field, located at the 5 Wanamaker Municipal Complex adjacent to the post office and police station in Island Heights. Organizers cite the new site’s free parking, absence of bridge traffic and expanded capacity as key improvements for the family-friendly event and the reasons behind the switch away from the boardwalk.

“After 10 years of building Broadway Meets the Beach into one of the most popular free events at the Jersey Shore, we’re expanding in a big way this summer,” organizers said in a statement.

The series features Broadway-caliber performers, many with credits from major productions, alongside stars from “American Idol” and other shows. Audiences are encouraged to bring beach chairs and arrive early. No tickets are required. Food, brew and dessert trucks, including Kona Ice, will be on site. The series has been voted among the most popular shows at the Shore and draws thousands of families to each performance, with local businesses also benefiting from increased traffic. This year’s schedule is:

  • Friday, July 3, 5:30 p.m. — Constantine Maroulis (two-time Tony nominee, “Rock of Ages,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” “American Idol”), Lucia Giannetta (“A Bronx Tale,” “Les Misérables,” “Hercules”) and Ted Brunetti (“A Bronx Tale,” “Anastasia”). A fireworks display will follow the show.
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m. — Christine Dwyer (Elphaba in “Wicked,” “Waitress,” “Jesus Christ Superstar Live”) and Matt DeAngeles (“Hair,” “Waitress,” “Swept Away”).
  • Friday, Aug. 21, 6:30 p.m. — Stephanie Klemons (dance captain and performer in “Hamilton,” “In the Heights”) and Bill Bowers (“The Lion King,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel”).
  • Monday, Aug. 31, 6:30 p.m. — Alysha Umphress (“On the Town,” “Bring It On”), Korie Lee Blossey (“Aladdin,” “Little Shop of Horrors”), Jenny Lee Stern (“Rocky,” “Forbidden Broadway”) and The Trebletones, a national champion quartet.

Organizers are also expanding the “Future Stars” program, offering week-long intensives for young performers. Participants train daily in singing, dancing and acting with real Broadway professionals and then perform in a showcase alongside the pros on select evenings.

Camp weeks are scheduled for June 29–July 3, Aug. 3–7, Aug. 17–21 and Aug. 24–31, all in Island Heights. Early-bird pricing through April 15 offers discounts for multiple weeks, with payment plans available. A $100 non-refundable deposit reserves a spot.
