Avery’s Carnival, a fun-filled day that helps raise money toward helping victims of pediatric cancer – and also pays tribute to a Brick girl who lost her life to the disease – will be held this Sunday, Oct. 18.
The event will feature amusement rides, a video game truck, giant slides, face painting, carnival games, delicious food, a DJ and plenty of terrific prizes, its organizers told Shorebeat. But most importantly, the event raises funds to help the fight against pediatric cancer and help local families that are up against the difficult battle.
The annual carnival is held in honor of Avery Lubrecht, a 4-year-old Brick girl who lost her battle with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer in 2008.

Each year in Avery’s memory, Standing Ovation School of Dance, on Mantoloking Road, organizes the event. This year’s proceeds will be helping two families at the dance school who are fighting cancer.
The carnival will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the dance school, 627 Mantoloking Road. A $20 donation per child entitles them to a wristband to enjoy the fun. All proceeds will be going towards helping the Verdura and Kalp families.
