Brick Township’s Recreation Department leagues will have a new baseball field on which to play this summer, with the township council this week approving a contract with a Herbertsville church to allow the use of its diamond.
The council unanimously approved a pact with St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Herbertsville Road to allow the township to use its baseball field on weekdays. The contract, which lasts for one year with the option to renew, provides the lease of the fields cost-free to the township.
“There is no monetary exchange in the lease, instead the township’s parks department will maintain the field for the sports season,” said Councilman Vincent Minichino.
The church is located at 714 Herbertsville, just north of Sally Ike Road.
