Lavallette residents are being urged to prepare for a borough-wide power outage that could last as long as seven hours on Wednesday night into Thursday.

The interruption in electrical service is due to emergency maintenance being undertaken by Jersey Central Power & Light, however the outage will affect all customers in town – those who have electrical service provided by JCP&L as well as the majority of resients, whose service is provided by Lavallette’s municipal electric utility. Both systems will be affected.

The nature of the “emergency infrastructure repairs” was not detailed by JCP&L, which issued the announcement. But the outage tentatively planned between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. June 4-5, 2025.

“All residents and business owners should plan accordingly for the total loss of electrical power, including arrangements for food storage, backup lighting, communication devices, and transportation needs,” the announcement said. “Individuals with electrical medical devices must take additional precautions and should arrange for alternative power sources or consider temporary relocation if necessary during the outage period.”
