Ocean County Preparing Paving Project on Major Roads in Brick, Neighboring Towns

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners will solicit bids for the reconstruction or resurfacing of several major county roads in the local area, which will be expected to be carried out this year.

A resolution the board plans to pass Wednesday, after reviewing it last week, calls for 4.2 miles of roadway to be resurfaced on the following roads:

• Jack Martin Boulevard (Brick)
• Chestnut Street (Toms River)
• Fischer Boulevard (Toms River)
• Arnold Avenue (Point Pleasant Beach)
• Ocean Avenue (Point Pleasant Beach)

“We’re going to be resurfacing, upgrading traffic signals and pedestrian crosswalks,” said Ocean County Engineer John Ernst.

The project will be developed by engineers and placed out for public bid. The board will make an award, then set the dates and deadlines for the work. Generally, road construction begins once asphalt plants reopen in the spring.
