Brick residents will soon have the opportunity to grab a taste of the sweetness of Canada on their way to work each morning, with one of the area’s first “Tim Hortons” restaurants due to open in the coming months close to a major Garden State Parkway interchange.
Passersby may have noticed the exterior sign mounted in front of the new location recently, but construction has been ongoing for months and the chain is targeting an opening date in the first quarter of 2026. The store will be located on “Old” Lanes Mill Road, beside the Shell gas station near the corner of Burnt Tavern Road. Its official address is 1 Lanes Mill Road, bringing it to a location with some stiff competition, including a Dunkin’ Donuts just one lot to its south, a Wawa across the street, and Shore Good Pancake House to the south. The Parkway interchange is located just a few feet to the south of the future restaurant.
Tim Hortons, founded in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and now based in Toronto, is a mega-chain with more than 5,700 locations between North America, Europe, the Middle East, India and east Asia. Named for the Canadian hockey player who founded the company in 1964, it is famous for its coffee, donuts and other morning sweets, and also serves breakfast specials and sandwiches. The restaurant also added flatbread pizzas to its menu in 2024 to attract crowds during other parts of the day. It is the largest quick-serve restaurant in Canada and is owned by Restaurant Brands International.

The Brick location is about five years in the making, with redevelopment of the small shopping plaza at 1 Lanes Mill Road having received approval by the township’s zoning board in the fall of 2020. At the time, the parcel that Tim Hortons will call home was approved as a 2,236 square foot restaurant with a drive-through lane. The Shell station received approval for expansion at the time, and another portion of the retail building – a larger partition with 3,010 square feet of space – was also part of the proposal by property owner PMG New Jersey.
The physical building in which the restaurant will open has been under construction for some time. The contractor behind the work, KS Builders NJ, posted on social media in July that it had finished installing an underground plumbing system and was ready to pour a slab that would support the rest of the business.
Tim Hortons is preparing to open in the coming months, according to a company spokesperson, though an official date has yet to be chosen. The company is eyeing the first quarter of 2026 to open its doors, and is currently hiring a staff for the location. The Brick restaurant will mark the chain’s 11th location in New Jersey and the first in Ocean County.
