Four Republicans, Two Democrats Seeking Ocean County Freeholder Seats

The race for the Republican nomination for two seats on the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders will be contested this year. Meanwhile, two incumbent Republicans and two Democrats supported by their regular party organizations will seek seats this year.

Incumbent Republicans John C. Bartlett, of Pine Beach, and Gerry P. Little, of Surf City, are seeking re-election to the board. They will be challenged in the GOP primary by Victoria McErlean, of Manahawkin, and Josh Prizer, of Toms River. McErlean and Prizer are running under the “Common Sense Conservatives” banner.

Two Democrats are running unopposed for their party’s nomination for freeholder. Patricia Barndt, a Beachwood resident who ran unsuccessfully for freeholder in 2012, is in the race again this year, and Chris Leitner, a former Point Pleasant Borough councilman, is also running.

Scott Colabella, of Barnegat Light, the current county clerk, is running unopposed for the Republican nomination for re-election to his office. He is being challenged by Kevin Pillion, of Island Heights, who is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
