A large-scale improvement project at Lake Riviera Park worth nearly $1 million was approved by the Brick Township Council Tuesday night.
The council unanimously approved a contract that provides for the renovations to the park, worth $977,021, to Jamali Construction.
“The residents of Lake Riviera have been waiting a very, very long time for this park,” said Councilwoman Andrea Zapcic. “The better part of 10 years.”

The renovation will include two playgrounds along with a new walking trail and fishing pier. A rock wall will separate the beach area from a grassy play area, Zapcic has said. A new gazebo will be built in the middle of the park. The improvements include the construction of a retaining wall for the beach and dock area.
A new parking area that will be built will solve an issue at the park that has lingered for years, Zapcic said.
The rebuild is $200,000 under budget, according to township officials.
