The banks of Lake Riviera are a bit cleaner this week thanks to a volunteer effort that turned up a number of items that had been disposed of at the park.
The volunteers included Boy Scout Troops 30 and 926 and Venture Crew 129 from the Joshua Huddy District, as well as members of the Brick Republican Community Service Coalition.
According to Charlie Bacon, one of the organizers of the cleanup, the volunteers focused on Lake Riviera Park, three wooded areas located on Lake Shore Drive and the woods between Beaverson Boulevard and Arizona Drive. The group rounded up the “usual suspects you would expect to find in the woods,” he said – water bottles, plastic bags and soda cans – however a few unique items were found as well. They included a diving board, a large patio umbrella, a wheelbarrow and a shopping cart (which was in the lake).
The Brick GOP community service group has also asked anyone with ideas for another area of town which requires attention to contact Charlie Bacon at 908-910-3564.
