Cops: Man Who Was ‘Moonwalking’ at Gas Station Mart Had Heroin

Police say a man who was doing what is commonly known as the “moonwalk” through the aisles of a gas station convenience mart had heroin and hypodermic needles, plus a warrant from a nearby town.

The man, identified as Mark Wixler, 39 of Kettle Creek Road, was arrested in the store at the Speedway gas station on Hooper Avenue in Silverton. Police were called to the gas station at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night after the clerk there reported the man as being suspicious.

Ralph Stocco, a spokesman for the Toms River Police Department, said Wixler “was moonwalking his way through the aisles attempting to choose his merchandise.”

While speaking to Wixler, an active warrant out of Neptune Township for $2,000 was discovered, Stocco said. He was arrested for the warrant and subsequently found to be in possession of 6 hypodermic needles and a small amount of heroin, according to police. He was housed in the Ocean County Jail pending a future court date.
