Brick’s abandoned property demolition program will expand to three more properties, with township officials voting in favor of soliciting bids for the work Tuesday night.
The township’s Property Maintenance Board recommended, and the council will seek bidders, for the demolition of 108 Bayview Drive, 533 Central Avenue and 73 Tall Timber Drive.
“These properties have been through our property maintenance board for several violations without any response,” said Council President Art Halloran.

Brick is one of several towns to have established a property maintenance board under a modification to state law passed several years ago. Under the law, “truly abandoned” properties that have not been maintained can be torn down. A lien is then placed on the property so the town can be repaid. Officials have said the majority of the properties in question are bank owned.
New Jersey provided Brick with a zero-interest loan of $300,000 this year to fund the demolition program.
