Brick Police Investigating Two Recent Car Thefts

Brick police are investigating the theft of two cars in different sections of the township. The cars, they say, had something in common: in both cases, the vehicles were left unlocked and the key fob left in the vehicle, “making them an easy target,” said Capt. Keith Reinhard.

The first incident occurred on Jan. 6, 2020 when a newer model Mercedes Benz was taken from a residence on Princeton Avenue. The second incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020 when a newer model BMW was taken from a residence off of Route 35.

“The Brick Township Police Department is urging all of its residents to make sure you lock your vehicles, and vehicles equipped with a key fob, ensure you do not leave the fob inside the vehicle,” Reinhard said.

“Also, just a reminder not to leave anything of value – i.e. pocketbooks, laptops, electronics, etc. in plain view,” he added.
