The Brick Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit arrested two Brick men – a father and son – after they witnessed what was alleged to be a hand-to-hand drug deal in the parking lot of the township’s Walmart store on Route 88.
Street Crimes Unit Detectives allegedly observed a hand-to-hand transaction between two vehicles’ occupants in the parking lot during the evening hours of May 4, police said in a statement. One of the vehicles left the area and detectives stopped it for traffic violations, while the other vehicle left the area and could not be located.
During the traffic stop, police say they discovered heroin, cocaine, used syringes, and various other forms of paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver, Scott Butler, 58, of Brick, was arrested for possession of cocaine drug paraphernalia and was issued traffic summonses. The passenger, Scott Butler Jr., 28, of Brick, was arrested for possession of cocaine, heroin, hypodermic syringes, and drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were processed and released on summonses.
