Brick Recognized for Support for Our Nation’s Veterans With Statewide Award

Brick Township received some special recognition during the recent Veterans Day holiday.

Mayor Ducey was invited to attend the Veterans Day ceremony at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Holmdel to receive an award on behalf of the township. The mayor accepted the New Jersey Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Community Award.

The award is given to municipalities within the state that show a “high regard and respect for veterans.”

Brick was recognized for a number of its efforts, including veterans’ discounts and beach access, hosting meetings and events in support of local veterans and the renovation of the township’s war memorial in front of town hall. Brick hosted its own Veterans Day ceremony last week as well.

“We were one of very few towns in New Jersey to receive this award, and it’s the first time it is ever being given out,” Ducey said.
