A popular bar that draws a mix of Shore locals and summer visitors is seeking an expansion.
The Shore House, located on Route 88 in Point Pleasant Borough near the canal bridge, will pitch its proposal to the town’s planning board this Thursday.
According to planning documents, the owner of the property, First of the Day, Inc., has applied for permission to construct a 576 square foot addition to the existing building that will be utilized as a kitchen for the business. A refuse enclosure will be relocated to the side of the building addition, and the total number of parking spaces will reduce by three.

The application requires board approval due to several variances which must be either obtained or simply reaffirmed from past hearings. The reduction in parking spaces will leave the establishment with 26 stalls, short of the 40 required under the borough’s zoning ordinance. There is also no loading zone proposed where one is normally required by ordinance.
Both requests for relief are considered minor “bulk” variances and do not required a supermajority board vote or enhanced criteria for approval.
The hearing will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at 7 p.m.
