Brick Township hosted its annual remembrance ceremony Monday night to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks that claimed a number of township residents among its more than 3,000 victims.
The threat of a thunderstorm kept this year’s ceremony under a large gazebo with a roof, however sprinkles did not begin falling until after the ceremony was completed. Members of the local clergy, as well as service organizations in their dress uniforms, made appearances and spoke to the crowd of about 200 people.
An honor guard made up of the township’s fire and police services introduced and dismissed the ceremony. Photos of the ceremony are included in this page, and a video of the “reading of the names” of those who perished appears above. (Note: some ad blocking software may interfere with the video player.)
