Brick officials last week awarded several grants, obtained through the federal Community Development Block Grant program, to local nonprofit organizations that serve Brick residents.
Under the CDBG program, organizations apply through the township for grant funding for a specific purpose, and the township awards the funding as it sees fit depending on how much the federal government appropriates through the program.
This year, the Township provided a total of $42,800 in support to the following organizations:

- Arc Ocean County Chapter ….. $2,500
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ocean County ….. $1,400
- Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey ….. $4,500
- Church of Visitation Community Lunch Program ….. $1,500
- Community Services (Meals on Wheels) ….. $10,000
- Contact of Ocean and Monmouth Counties….. $1,500
- Dottie’s House ….. $4,500
- Interfaith Hospitality Network ….. $2,500
- Jersey Shore Council of Scouts ….. $1,500
- Ocean’s Harbor House ….. $2,500
- Providence House ….. $7,500
- Brick Morning Rotary Club ….. $1,400
- Family Promise of the Jersey Shore ….. $1,500
“All of these outstanding organizations work to make a positive impact on our communities,” Mayor Lisa Crate said. “They rely heavily on the support of citizens through volunteerism and donations.”
