Brick officials this week voted to approve a new contract which will retain its animal control provider for 2025.
The township council unanimously voted on a new, year-long contract for A-Academy of South Jersey to provide animal control services for the township. Last month, the council approved an agreement with Ocean County to provide for animal sheltering services through 2029. The two contracts are distinct and, aside from both dealing with animals, are not related.
Under the terms of the new agreement, A-Academy, based in Howell, will provide 24 hour coverage, 365 days per year for no more than $120,000 per year. The amount the company will get paid depends largely on how often personnel are called out during off-peak hours for service. The base price is $6,900 monthly, adding up to $82,800 per year for calls during normal business hours – Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. After hours calls will be billed at $125 per call on weeknights, including Fridays and during the daytime hours on Saturdays.

Calls on Saturday nights will be billed at $150 per call, and Sundays will be billed at $75 per call. Holiday responses on township-observed holidays will cost $195 per call.
The contract lasts through Jan. 1, 2026.
