A local man was arrested Tuesday after being caught with a loaded firearm and extended magazine during a traffic stop in Brick’s Maple Leaf Park condominium complex.

According to a statement from police, the department’s Street Crimes Unit was conducting “generalized surveillance” in Maple Leaf Park when they observed a suspicious vehicle. After observing various traffic violations, detectives requested a marked patrol unit to conduct a traffic stop. During the stop, detectives “developed heightened suspicion,” which led to the search of the vehicle. While searching, officers discovered a loaded 9mm handgun in the backseat with a high capacity magazine, the statement said.

Detectives arrested and charged Victor M. Conde, 38, of Lakewood, with being in possession of a loaded handgun with a high capacity magazine during a motor vehicle stop.
