Brick Township council members on Tuesday night awarded contracts for a paving project that will see the resurfacing of several streets, as well as for new fuel tanks at the Public Works facility.

The council voted to award a $457,313 contract to Earle Asphalt Company for the repaving of North Lake Drive, Olive Court and Vista Court. All three streets are located off Maple Avenue, which connects Herbertsville and Burnt Tavern roads. According to the resolution passed by the council, the work will include milling and paving of the roadways, and work on driveway aprons, curbs and sidewalks where necessary, plus drainage improvements.

Residents will be notified before roadwork begins, with instructions on parking.

The council also awarded a contract for the replacement of fuel tanks at the Public Works facility on Ridge Road. The $1,072,610 contract with E.O. Habhegger Company, of Hammonton, represented the low bid for the project, which was funded in the township’s capital budget. The contract covers the purchase, delivery and installation of two fuel storage tanks.

The fueling station at the Ridge Road facility is maintained by the township, while a separate facility near the school bus depot at Brick Township High School is owned by the school district. The Ridge Road station primarily serves Public Works vehicles, while the township reimburses the school district for the cost of fuel from the bus depot tanks, which is where police vehicles are generally filled up.
