Brick’s summer celebrations are moving from the Metedeconk River to Barnegat Bay, as the major “Summerfest” series celebrates its finale this week and the annual Traders Cove Marina concert series starts next week.

Summerfest wraps up this Thursday, July 31 with the “The 80’s vs. 90’s Show” followed by fireworks. The show, featuring popular cover band “The Ronald Reagans,” will perform hits from the two decades in a friendly battle between generations.

“This fun and nostalgic concert will transport you back to the days when MTV ruled the airwaves, when we made mix tapes for our friends and spent hours browsing through tapes, CDs and singles at the local music stores,” the township’s announcement said. “The band will perform sets from each decade and let the crowd decide which era truly rocked.”

Traders Cove Concert Series Begins

With the township’s 30th annual Summerfest celebration coming to a close, a newer tradition – the Traders Cove Concert Series – will kick off next Wednesday, Aug. 6. Set against the stunning backdrop of Barnegat Bay, the concerts take place on the lawn of Traders Cove Marina and Park off Mantoloking Road.

This year’s series kicks off on Wednesday, Aug. 6 with the Basso Brothers. The music continues with Back in Time on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and wraps up with the high-energy Kickin’ Wing on Wednesday, Aug. 20. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free to attend.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to sit back and relax on the grass. Coolers are welcome, but alcohol is not permitted in the park. Like Summerfest on the Metedeconk, it has become common for boaters to anchor up just off the park (just south of F-Cove) to listen to the tunes. For residents ages 60 and over who need transportation, Senior Shuttle service is available. Those who need a ride can call 732-920-8686 to reserve a seat.
