Brick Township will begin its annual beach buggy permit sale in September, the township announced this week, after the council voted to increase the number of permits granted annually to 200.
Beach buggy permits allow those with four wheel drive vehicles to drive on the beachfront during the off-season for those who are surf fishing. Beginning Sept. 11, 2025, applications will be accepted from all applicants. Submissions may be made in person or by mail. All applications will be date- and time-stamped and processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications will be available through the Municipal Clerk’s office and on the township website, but will not be accepted until Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025. On that day, applications will be accepted exclusively from Brick Township residents between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Proof of residency will be required and only complete applications will be processed.

The application fee is $35, payable by cash, check (made payable to “Township of Brick”) or credit card (American Express not accepted). A total of 200 permits will be issued.
As has long been the case, vehicle inspections are required before a permit is issued. Inspections will be scheduled in 30-minute time slots to help reduce wait times. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred inspection slot when submitting their application. All required documents and equipment must be presented at the inspection; photocopying will not be available on-site. Permits will be mailed or made available for pick-up during the week following the scheduled inspection, based on the applicant’s preference.
Those interested in obtain a permit can download the application form at this link. Residents with questions can contact the Municipal Clerk’s office at 732-262-1001.
