Brick officials this week awarded federal grant funding to ten local nonprofit organizations as part of the Community Development Block Grant program.
Township officials solicit applications from local service organizations each year and are tasked with dividing up federal funding that is passed through town hall to the applicants chosen to receive funding. This year, Community Services Inc, which administers Ocean County Meals on Wheels, was the single largest recipient of funding, at $10,0024, with The Arc of Ocean County receiving the second-highest award of $5,000. The grants ranged from that award to $500 for smaller organizations.
This year, the township granted a total of $43,624 to 10 organizations. The township also administers housing rehabilitation projects and public infrastructure improvements through funding received from the CDBG Program annually.
