A North Jersey man pleaded guilty Monday to charges of eluding police in connection with an incident that took place in Brick Township’s Herbertsville section in 2021, prosecutors announced.
Ally Golo, 41, of Hackensack, will be sentenced next year and is expected to serve several years in prison in connection with the April 27, 2021 incident.
According to prosecutors, the chase began when Brick police officers observed a blue Chevrolet Malibu commit multiple motor vehicle violations on Herbertsville Road, nearly causing a crash, a statement said. Officers attempted to effectuate a motor vehicle stop, but the Malibu – operated by Golo – fled the officers at a high rate of speed, ignoring their signals to stop and repeatedly crossing into the oncoming traffic lane.

Golo attempted to turn onto Godfrey Lake Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail before continuing to flee. Shortly thereafter, the Malibu crashed into a parked car near the Maple Leaf Park condominium development. The pursuit continued onto Sawmill Road, where Golo finally brought the vehicle to a stop and attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued Golo and ultimately took him into custody. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail and subsequently released in accordance with the state’s bail reform law.
At the time of his sentencing on March 27, 2026, the state will be seeking a term of five years in New Jersey state prison. Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill is presiding over the case. A photo of Golo was not available.
