Ocean County officials have closed the Point Pleasant Borough branch of the county library system after discovering water damage following the recent storm.
Water was found in “several areas” of the building on Beaver Dam Road, library officials said. The branch’s book drop will remain open for returns, but otherwise the facility will be completely shut down for an unspecified amount of time.
“After assessing the damage to the facility it was determined the branch would need to be closed to complete repairs,” an announcement said.

Items on hold at the Point Pleasant Borough Branch will be transferred to the Point Pleasant Beach Branch, 710 McLean Ave., on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Library patrons can request their items be sent to another branch by calling 732-349-6200. Due dates for Chromebooks, hotspots, and Launchpads from the Point Pleasant Borough Branch will be adjusted to accommodate the temporary closure. Patrons are encouraged to visit nearby OCL branches for in-person services.
The announcement said the library system would post updates on its social media pages and website.
