Brick officials this week approved the reappointment of a former township councilwoman to the board of the Brick Township Housing Authority.
Kathy Russell, a Democrat, was appointed to serve a five-year term running from March 15, 2026 to March 14, 2031, an extension of her previous five-year term. Russell served as a township council members from 1998 to 2009, and has long been one of the most prominent voices in town as well as the Democratic party. She has also served a stint on the Board of Adjustment.
The housing authority is funded by the federal government, though its board of commissioners is appointed by the Brick Township mayor and council, who hire an executive director – currently Jacob Naszimento – to oversee day-to-day operations.
