With Shore residents having gotten a taste of spring in recent weeks, enthusiasm for the summer season is ramping up. In Brick, the township council has awarded contracts for the annual Summerfest celebration series, which will again feature food trucks, several fireworks displays and a beer-and-wine garden.
Summerfest will be held on four dates in July this year: July 2, July 9, July 16 and July 23. Rain dates occasionally push some events into August, and the July 2 edition doubles as the township’s Independence Day celebration. The musical lineup for the season has not yet been announced.
Food vendors for Summerfest include:
|
|
- Big Blue Wrap and Roll (Pine Beach, NJ)
- Dellano Food Service (Long Valley, NJ)
- Jersey Juice Company (Brick, NJ)
- Jersey Mike’s Subs (Brick, NJ)
- John and Debbie O’s Concessions (Toms River, NJ)
- Tony’s Italian Sausage (Hazlet, NJ)
- You Scream Ice Cream (Brick, NJ).
The food vendors, as a whole, paid $13,413 in bids to sell their items at the celebration. The Beer and Wine Garden this year will be provided by Mantoloking Road Ale House, representing a change from past years during which the contract was awarded to Windward Tavern. Mantoloking Road Ale House offered the high bid of $12,500 to sell beer and wine at all four events, plus the township’s annual Fall Fest event.
Fireworks displays will be featured at each Summerfest event, provided by Schaefer Fireworks of Strasburg, Pa. The township will pay $6,720 for each event, with the exception of the July 2 event when prices rise due to demand for the July 4 holiday. The July 2 fireworks display will cost $16,996, making the entire contract worth $37,156.
The majority of the funding for Summerfest is provided by a number of corporate sponsors. It is is held at Windward Beach Park off Princeton Avenue.
